Tankboy began with a question; why do we cry?
As I got more lost in that thought, I found myself drawing many many tears on my scrap paper. I wondered about how uncontrollable sadness is often shunned as a negative thing. Through its whimsical tone, Tankboy intends to express the confusion of being sad. The film wishes to understand the complexity of human emotions and ultimately brings hope and comfort to its audience.
