Hi I am Novella, Indonesian animation filmmaker and illustrator, currently pursuing the Author Director of Animated Film program at La Poudrière, France.
My work blends childlike curiosity with magical realism, exploring themes of memory, movement, and chaos. It is shaped by the places I have lived, from towns in central Java, Borneo, Jakarta, Singapore... and now Valence. My stories are grounded in the emotions of these places I call home.
I like to use soft textures and vivid colors, and I love experimenting with animation techniques to create films that feel raw, real, and fun.
My short film Tankboy (2021), won the Global Animation Award at Jakarta Film Week, and has been selected at multiple international festivals, including DOKUFEST Kosovo, Busan International Kids and Youth Festival, Animocje Poland, and more.

I have worked as art and animation director on award-winning short films, TV series, and music videos. Outside of filmmaking, I enjoy creating cover artworks, murals, and illustrations. Currently, I am directing my first independent short film, My Dear Little Red Monster / Bocor, which was successfully funded on Kickstarter and is in production.
